Season Three and Rippa Stefan

Summer is slowly ticketing by and for those of here in the States, it’s been grueling and unbearable hot . It’s been perfect for staying inside and getting caught up on repeat episodes of The Vampire Diaries. When our favorite blood sucking, teenage soap opera ended, a lot was left open for a new season with adventures and escapades even more exciting than before. Klaus has forced our beloved Stefan to become his old self in order to save his brother, Damon. What will this mean for Elena? And what about the kiss she gave Damon at the end? She’s not so unlike Katherine after all. Of course, Jeremy will have his own set of problems, with the return of his many exes. Are they real or are they visions and how will this impact his growing relationship with Bonnie? I have my theories of what to expect when the new season starts on September 15th, but let’s take a look at some of the latest gossip flowing out of San Diego’s Comic Con.

Saturday night marks the panel we’ve all waited for, and even before that Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson decided to drop a little hint as to what’s up. As soon as the panel and discussions are complete, I will update you all on the latest and greatest in Season 3. In the meantime, take a gander at this thought….Jeremy’s “visions” of his former girlfriends may have something to do with “powers” that have been bestowed upon him. The question is how soon will he find out he has these “powers” and what will he do with them? I’m told that Bonnie will not know about this immediately, but it will definitely drive a rift between the two budding lovebirds. Bonnie can’t exactly complain considering the fact that she was told there would be consequences to her actions when she asked for Jeremy to be brought back to life.

Matt and Caroline seem to be over, but Caroline and Tyler could be the new “It” couple. I did consider one thought where Caroline and Tyler are concerned and that being the two of them could create their own vampire/werewolf hybrid. Unfortunately, it would take much too long for the little pup to grow up and be a force for Klaus. Not to mention the fact that technically Caroline is dead, so I believe that means her reproductive organs are dead as well. It was a good theory, or so I thought.
And for those of you who wondered, much like myself, how Katherine was able to enter the Salvatore house considering the fact that Stefan and Damon had signed over the deed to Elena and obviously Elena would not have invited Katherine in. Kevin Williamson tweeted why this was possible, and it’s because Elena died when Klaus killed her. We know that Uncle John, or actually Papa John, saved Elena by sacrificing his own life. So, the Gilbert children are now left without a guardian. Perhaps it’ll be Alaric who takes over.

Stay tuned as I post updates from Comic Con.

As I Lay Dying

I’m dying to get this off my chest. I was thoroughly disappointed in this year’s season finale. I suppose it does leave for a good cliffhanger, but not to the OMG point where I’m going to spend my summer thinking about what is going to happen next. Last summer, I started this blog because I became overwhelmingly devouted to a television show that glamourized small town life and made vampires romantic and dangerous. I fell in love with the characters, the brooding personality of Stefan Salvatore, the wholesome goodness of Elena Gilbert, and the devastating beauty of bad boy Damon. Last year, the show ended with a bang, a bang that I wasn’t expecting. And with each new episode, I kept getting more pulled into the lives of the trio and their friends. I even dreamt about the characters a lot of nights. And fortunately for me, this year hasn’t been a disappointment at least not until I got to the finale, and then I was expecting more.

I think you’re all well aware that I’m Team Damon and have been from day one. I think it’s his bad boy nature, or maybe it’s the fact that he feeds off of his human emotions more so that Stefan, or maybe it’s that intoxicating blue eyes that I could imagine staring into for the rest of my life. OK, ok, so I took that a little far, but you have to agree those baby blues are quite beautiful. I knew that Damon wouldn’t die, he couldn’t die. And since I knew this, it meant that I was as engrossed in the finale. Don’t get me wrong, I am excited that Elena kissed Damon, that she forgave him for thinking with his heart and not his head. I also had a pretty good idea that Klaus was going to be the cure in some form or fashion considering he’s the one and only hybrid werewolf vampire. There were a few gaps in the writing that I didn’t quite follow.

For example, how exactly did Katherine get into the Salvatore house? Didn’t Damon and Stefan sign over the deed to Elena and she is now the owner and if that’s the case, doesn’t Katherine have to be invited in? I know it was more dramatic for her to be standing at the door watching Elena kiss Damon while Stefan was off sacrificing himself to Klaus to save his brother, but it didn’t add up. Katherine was already under Klaus’ control compulsion when Elena took over ownership of the Salvatore house. Next, how did Klaus and Elijah get back into Alaric’s apartment? Klaus I can understand, but not Elijah. Elijah was never invited in and he has to be invited in by either an owner or full time resident and neither of them were there. Finally, why exactly didn’t Klaus just kill Katherine when he had the chance? I guess this means we are going to have to suffer through her shenanigans (which are getting old by the way) another year. If we’re lucky, it will be very sporadic.

What I did enjoy was the creation of Ripper Stefan. It brings a whole new dynamic to the show. It’s nice to see that Stefan is going to have more than his broody, guilty, whoa is me, personality. I’m super excited to see what will happen even if it means Stefan will have to kill innocents. We know that Elena won’t give up on him, and that she along with Damon, will chase after Stefan to save him from Klaus. I’m just unsure how that’s going to happen considering Klaus can’t be killed. Well, I’m sure he can be killed, I just can’t fathom how. And speaking of Ripper Stefan, I see a bit of a parallel to Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Is Stefan going to be an evil Angel and Elena is going to be Buffy who has to kill him in the end? Highly unlikely, but I do see the parallels. And I’m pretty certain that Kevin Williamson’s friendship with Joss Whedon (Buffy’s creator) is being seen in the writing and will likely be seen next year as well. Perhaps they’ll bring Joss on as a guest writer.

The return of Jeremy’s girlfriends should prove interesting. I’m hoping for an exciting storyline for Alaric and maybe he’ll become the legal guardian of the Gilbert children. The return of Vickie should be something interesting for everyone to chew on including Matt and Caroline. I don’t think Vickie is good, I don’t think she has enough strength to be good, so I’m curious as to how she’ll impact Matt and Caroline’s relationship and then there’s Tyler as well. I’m hoping for a hook up between Tyler and Caroline. When this show started last year, they were both self-centered, over assured, arrogannt and spoiled high school brats. Thanks to their circumstances, they’ve both matured greatly. The two of them together should be a pretty unstoppable force and I can see Tyler fighting for Caroline. I hope he does.

As for the summer, don’t worry. I’ll still be around. Since the show is on summer vacation, I plan on spending my summer re-vamping (like the play on words) the blog, adding more pages and updating the current pages. I promise to keep track of all of the comings and goings of the cast and writers and what may or may not be happening next season. Until then, have a great summer!

Another finale and another death?

We saw the deaths of four people last week, some we were anticipating, but others that were heart wrenching. Are the deaths over or can we expect a shocker tonight, perhaps the death of Damon after his deadly werewolf bite from Tyler? I hope not and apparently I’m in the minority. After Damon’s selfish act of feeding Elena vampire blood thereby taking away her choice, many fans of this wonderfully captivating show have jumped on the twitter waves openly bashing Damon and hoping for a long and torturous death to one of my favorite characters. I’ve being in the minority is a lot more fun especially when I’m right and my gut tells me that Damon will live and the poor boy did nothing the rest of us wouldn’t do either. When caught in throes of emotional distress, a person will do anything. If I were in Damon’s position and felt like I was going to lose the one thing I loved more than anything else in this world, then I can’t say I would do anything different from what he did. Given the option of keeping my brother alive or watching him die, I would have gladly sold my soul to the devil himself to have my brother still alive and walking this earth. Let’s cut Damon some slack for still having his human side and our fingers crossed that Stefan will find a cure for Damon.

So, after last week’s episode I tweeted that being pregnant (which I am right now) was much like being a vampire. Your emotions and sensitivity are heightened and more amplified. Last week I cried more than I thought possible for an episode of Vampire Diaries. Jenna’s death was hard and has left many questions, for example what will happen to Alaric? What sort of storyline can he possibly have? And Jeremy and Elena, they are still considered minors by the state, who will be their guardian now, especially since Uncle John sacrificed himself? Speaking of Uncle John, I never thought it was possible for him to have a selfless act, yet I still believed and held out hope. In the end, I was right and my hope won.

And now that Klaus has officially transitioned (or did he?) what does this mean for Katherine? Didn’t he compel her to stay in Alaric’s apartment? If he’s not dead then she’s stuck there forever, but the pictures I’ve seen for tonight show Katherine. Question is, is it a flash back, something we’ve been promised a lot of from Damon’s point of view? And who doesn’t love flash backs?

Finally, I want to leave you with one little bit of information which makes me wonder if every season finale will end up this way for Vampire Diaries……tonight there is a gathering in town square with a showing of Gone With The Wind. All hell apparently breaks loose after that. And if you recall last year’s finale, the backdrop was the town square as well and weren’t the ladies all in their Gone With The Wind gowns. Is there a theme to the finales? I suppose we’ll just have to continued to watch each year and see if there’s a pattern. Can’t wait for tonight and I’ll catch you all on the other side.

Who Will Survive?

So, you all know how much I love to read up on gossip about Vampire Diaries and even find out spoilers and what’s to come. Naturally with only two more episodes left in this season, I’m anxious to know what’s going to happen and what might we expect to see in Season 3. Once again, for those of you completely UNAWARE and out of the loop…..Vampire Diaires was given the green light for Season 3! So here’s a few little spoilers coming our way. If you’re not interested in known what’s going to happen, then skip this blog. My feelings won’t be hurt!

Season 3 has been dubbed “The Season of the Originals”, so that means Klaus and Elijah will survive. Does that mean we will also see some of their fellow brothers and sisters? Perhaps they will join the fray to stop Klaus as he attempts to break the curse? I can’t confirm that, but I’ve learned anything is possible.

For those of you that are Delena fans (Damon and Elena, for the ones who don’t follow the show as much) the question has been posed will something happen between Damon and Elena, and the word something is a bit broad. Something will happen and it won’t be unexpected. Some fans will be excited, others will be disappointed.

Tonight we can expect to see some serious witch on witch action between Bonnie and Greta. We didn’t expect Bonnie to continue to stay hidden especially when she hears about Elena, but I am curious to see her reaction to Greta. She promised Dr. Martin to save Greta, but will she be able to stick to that? And is Greta being compelled by Klaus or is she a willing participant? Lisa Tucker, who plays Greta, says that even the greatest of fans won’t see or expect all the twists tonight. She’s such a tease!

Klaus will take a special interest in Stefan. To what degree, I’m not sure, but there’s a level of fascination Klaus has with Stefan. Their encounters will be intense and expect to see a different side of Klaus when he’s around Stefan. I won’t dare say anything more than that.

It’s not much, but just a few little things to make you all think about what’s to come. Some will come out tonight and it will be a non stop ride, so be prepared to not move from your couch. See you all after “The Sun Also Rises”.

Entering the Unknown

There’s more unknowns going into “The Last Day”, tonight’s episode of Vampire Diaries, than there were in the Bin Laden assassination. All joking aside, I can’t even begin to contemplate what will exactly happen tonight. Last week completely threw me for a loop. I suppose I have this inability to really open my mind and think outside of what appears, to step beyond reality and truly expand into the impossible, which isn’t always impossible.

When I read that some of the favorites and the regulars would die, I didn’t contemplate that it could possibly be by way of becoming a vampire. And as much as I fell that Jenna much like Matt, was an expendable character, she quickly proved her ability to cope with the unexplainable. How many of you thought Jenna was a bad ass protector when she aimed that crossbow at Alaric? And she even did it with a steady hand! Go Jenna!

It’s an interesting twist turning her into a vampire and it shows the cunning of Klaus to always plan for the unexpected. My first instinct was that he was going to use Katherine, but that would be much too easy. He wants her to suffer as much as possible. Then Damon came along and I thought for sure, Damon would be the sacrifice, but you can’t use him if he’s tainted. Which leads me to his werewolf bite. I had an inkling that something happened when Tyler jumped him, I just hoped that what I suspected was not true. There has to be a cure for the wolf bite, because Damon, much like Stefan and Elena, is an integral part of this show. I can’t imagine Julie and Kevin writing Damon out, but wouldn’t it be a twist none of us were expecting?

Then there’s the whole “Elena drank vampire blood” monkey wrench. Klaus now knows this, but it seems to not bother him. He can’t proceed with the curse with her not being “pure”, or can he? My brain is honestly exhausted with trying to figure all of this out. Bonnie still has her role to play, there’s still something more for her to do in order to save Elena’s life. And then there’s Uncle John. I really wish this man would do something selfless and think about others. I’m curious as to how he’s going to react at Jenna being turned into a vampire. Is he going to try to kill her should she survive this sacrifice? I would hope that he knows how important she is to Elena, she’s been the next closest thing to a mom that Elena has ever had. And it’s partially John’s fault for Jenna being in the condition she’s in. He didn’t have to taunt her with a little secret he knew Alaric was keeping and incite her. He could have protected her, but he didn’t. On the same token, I don’t think he ever considered the fact that Jenna would be hurt to this extent, so I’m hoping this really impacts him and wakes him up. It’s unlikely, but I can always hope.

As for the rest of the gang, I’m disappointed that Tyler’s part was brief before he turned into a wolf. I was hoping for more dialogue between him and Caroline. I suppose that could come soon, if they both survive that is. And I must say that Matt really changed my impression of him drastically. I can’t believe he did what he did. He’s able to see beyond what Caroline has become. It wasn’t her choice and he knows that she wasn’t the one to harm Vicki. Last week’s episode, Matt grew up a lot.

So, what’s going to happen this week? I can’t even begin to think about it. I can’t contemplate what will happen tonight. It seems that every time I have an idea as to what’s going to happen, I’m only partially right and then I’m confounded by the reality of what Kevin and Julie can do with these characters. Stay tuned for tonight to see who survives the sacrifice.

Faux curses, Original Story, and Brothers?

I would like to remind you all that I called it, well I called at least some of it. If you look back on some of my previous posts, you’ll see that I questioned the validity of the curse that so many have fought so hard to break or keep from breaking. So, now that I have that out of the way, let’s discuss what’s going to happen with the next three episodes for the season and what may be in store for Season 3! For those of you who’ve been living in the desert somewhere, it has officially been confirmed that the CW is renewing Vampire Diaries for another season.

I’m not terribly impressed with Klaus. I was expecting big, bad, and devastatingly sexy. All I’m seeing is someone who appears to suffer a sort of inferiority complex. Perhaps it has something to do with when he was still human and he found out that he wasn’t his father’s son after all, that he was the product of a torrid affair his mother had with a simpleton. Then he suffers an even bigger set back when the man he always knew as his father distances himself from Klaus, and then kills Klaus’ real father’s family. All of that mixed together is a deadly combination for a young human. The anger itself can force a rational human to react in ways never before imagined, but when you add to the equation that he becomes a vampire, then no one stands a chance to survive Klaus’ wrath. Problem is, I don’t really think he’s bite is as big as his bark. Even if he does break the curse and he’s able to tap into his werewolf side, thus allowing for him to produce puppies with other werewolves, I still don’t think he’s as deadly as everyone makes him out to be.

As for Katherine, I actually feel sorry for her, not so much now as back then when she was still human. I don’t understand what it was about Klaus that drew her in. She must have been compelled. Left to my own choices, and I’m an Elijah gal. He’s much sexier, and he’s smart, plus he seems to care and have a sense of humanity, or at least he did. It still up for debate as to how well he can be trusted and whether he will double cross Elena. Back to Katherine, though. She seemed to really care for Klaus, deeply cared for him but once she found out who he was and what he was going to do to her, she took matters into her own hands. You know the story, vampire blood in her system, then killing herself, thereby becoming a vampire herself. It was her chance to not just save her own life, but I think to give a swift “F– you!” to Klaus for using and hurting her.

Now to Damon and Stefan. At the start of this season, I was starting to lean more towards Stefan as the appropriate fit for Elena. He seemed to grow and mature, no longer brooding and wallowing in his own self pity. He became the protector and the man she needed. Damon just appeared to be a spoiled brat, one who didn’t get his way and chose to act out in whatever way possible including hurting those closest to him. As the season has moved foward, both brothers have shown that they are willing to keep Elena safe, I just don’t know if Stefan is really the one to do it and I don’t know that he’s totalling concerned about Elena. Stefan is more focused on the collateral damage that may be suffered. It’s unfortunate, but there is always collateral damage in a war, but you can’t forget the endgame, what you are fighting for and I think that has left his focus. I think that Stefan is worried about too many other people, while Damon has made it clear that no matter Elena comes first. He’s not willing to trust others and accept the status quo. History has proven that you don’t err on the side of good judgement. It’s always wise to have a Plan B as well as a Plan C and even a Plan D. I think this is Damon’s way of thinking because when it comes down to it, he’s said so himself…..Elena will ALWAYS come first.

I’m excited to see what will happen tonight. I’m hoping for the end of Matt. He’s storyline is done and Caroline deserves better than this turd! Tyler will be back and I hope he’s genuinely making amends for the way he was with Caroline. And then we get to see what sort of little fist fight the Salvatores will have tonight, plus there’s still Klaus and the rest of his story! Oh, yeah, by the way, I read an interview that Kevin Williamson did last week. He stated that the mindfield between Damon, Stefan, and Klaus is wide enough for next year. Is that a hint that Klaus will survive and that Elena will be sacrificed? We’ll just have to wait and see!

What’s in store now that Klaus is in town?

Of course, I’ve done my research, and I can tell you all what to expect in the final four episodes of Vampire Diaries. That’s right, I said final 4, tis sad but true.

As we all know, Klaus is returning this week. The real Klaus, not just an Alaric possessed version. Next week, April 28th will see the return of Tyler, but why is that? He receives a mysterious phone call that lures him back into Mystic Falls and the question in the air is will he be alone, or will Jules be joining him? And what length will he go to in order to rid himself of the curse he’s unwittingly triggered or will he be another casualty in this battle? There are so many turns for him take, decisions for him to make.

May 5th which is the 5th episode of the final 6 of the season will see the most blood shed of the season. Julie Plec is teasing that this episode will have a significant number of casualties. Who among are Mystic Fall gang will fall? It’s still not going to be Caroline, she’s safe, but others have already been voted off. Any ideas as to who else will suffer?

So, let’s get back to Klaus. This week, we’re in for a treat as this will be another infamous flash back episode with tons of back story. Plus we’ll also get a look at the modern day Klaus. Just as an FYI, all previews we’ve seen with Klaus, shows him with golden brown locks of the King Arthur era, which would be about right considering he’s over 500 years old. The latest photos of 21st century Klaus are pretty appealing. I’m excited to see what his relationship with Katherine was like when they first crossed paths. What exactly did she do to him? I’m still convinced there was a love affair between the two of them. He’s still hurting and wants her to suffer. Remember last week’s episode? I believe the quote was it took him over 500 years to find her, and it was going to take at least half that amount of time for her to die. Her death will be slow and painful, but it’s inevitable. I don’t forsee Katherine making it past this season.

And then my next question is what about Elena and Damon? Is it possible that Elena will finally stop fighting her feelings where Damon is concerned. Yeah, you know what, he’s selfish with everything including her, but he’s a lot more selfless with her than Stefan will ever be. The two of them will come to blows over her and the question is how will it end? I have a few ideas, but I’m going to wait to see what happens this week.

So, check out the pics from this week’s upcoming episode. And let me know what you think about Klaus and what exactly his relationship was with Katherine. Here’s an idea to ponder and this picture only adds to this theory….. a love triangle between Elijah, Klaus, and Katherine. Were Elijah and Klaus the “original” version of the Salvatores?
